Denver to Chicago

Packing the car is easiest when the car is on the lawn.

One week ago, after a last-minute yard sale, a trip to Goodwill, and storing the rest of our stuff in a generous family's barn, we left Denver. I cried for the first five minutes of the drive until Jordan whipped out a harmonica and started playing a slow, sad tune. Why he had a harmonica in his pocket, and where he got it, I didn't know, but it made me laugh and cheered me right up.

We stayed in Omaha for two nights and were so happy to connect with our family there before arriving in Lake Bluff on Saturday. Sunday began our week of training with Teach Beyond (the mission agency sending us to BFA) at Wheaton College. Being here has made our future in Germany seem all the more real. For both of us, some of our anxiety has been reduced as our questions are being answered and we are meeting fellow teachers and staff members who will become our neighbors and (hopefully) our friends! We've also had the opportunity to meet several TCK's (Third Culture Kids) who grew up on the mission field and affirmed the great need for schools like
Black Forest Academy.

Jordan took this shortly after I declared that the Wheaton cafeteria was "awesome" and he pointed out that onions were the only thing on my plate.

Thank you for your prayers! Last month we asked you to pray that we would find a furnished apartment in Germany, and we did! We will be living in a one-bedroom apartment in Kandern in a refurbished barn. A barn!! I'm so thrilled.

Please keep praying that God would provide the rest of our support. We've raised 79% of our goal of $45,000, thanks to so many of you, and we have about $10,000 left to raise. Once we get to 90% we can buy our plane tickets for our August 1st departure date. Thankfully, misisonary fares are available a week ahead of time and include three free checked bags each. Who knew?? Jordan claims that all of the clothes he's bringing will fit into one of those suitcases....we'll see about that.
